Mariano Rivera was arguably the greatest closing pitcher to ever play the game of baseball. On September 19, 2011, Mariano Rivera became the all-time saves leader in MLB history, recording his 602nd career save, passing Trevor Hoffman for sole possession of first place. Rivera has led the majors 3 times in saves in 1999 (45) 2001 (50) and 2004 (53). Rivera recorded at least 30 saves in every season from 1997-2011. Rivera is a five time World Series Champion and was awarded the 1999 World Series MVP and the 2003 ALCS MVP.
On September 26, 2013, Mariano Rivera made the last appearance of his soon-to-be Hall of Fame career. As a fitting tribute, long-time teammates Derek Jeter and Andy Pettitte went to the mound to take the ball from Rivera so he could get the well-deserved standing ovation from the Yankee Stadium crowd. Captured in this black and white limited edition (26/100) drawing, is Rivera handing the ball over to Andy Pettitte with Derek Jeter looking on. All three players have signed their names near their images in bold blue marker, with Rivera inscribing “Exit Sandman Last to Wear #42 1995-2013” and Pettitte inscribing “Mo’s Last Game 9/26/13”. This exquisite piece of art is framed to a dimension of 29 x 39 inches and comes with a COA from Steiner Sports.
