To many fans – especially those who recall the thrills of the friendly 1961 competition between Yankee teammates Roger Maris and Mickey Mantle – Maris will always be the true single-season home run champ. His 61 home runs in '61 are still discussed with awe, but Maris' accomplishments extended far beyond that one year's long ball totals: the slugger was also a two-time A.L. MVP and a seven-time All-Star, and he played for three World Championship clubs.
His coveted signature graces the unlined cut on set in this 16 x 20 color photograph of him in his road New York Yankees uniform holding a bat in his right hand with his left hand on his waist. Maris’ signature is in bold blue pen and this photograph and cut have been matted into a 25 x 33 inch frame. Also appearing on the matted portion is a 2 x 6 inch black plate with silver lettering that reads “New York Yankees ROGER MARIS #9”. This Roger Maris signed cut comes with a full LOA from JSA (B51484).
