1961 was a historic year in baseball, and in New York Yankees’ history. The summer of 1961 saw one of the most exciting home run races in baseball history, as Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris waged a double-barreled assault on Babe Ruth’s single-season home run record. Mantle would go down with a hip injury late in the season, while Maris hit his 61st home run on the final day of the season to break Ruth’s longstanding record of 60. The Yanks would go on to win their 26th American League Pennant and then the Cincinnati Reds in five games to capture their 19th World Series title.

As one of the most beloved teams in Yankees’ history, 33 members of that team reunited to sign this circa 1984-90 Official American League Bobby Brown baseball. All of the signatures have been signed in blue pen on this cream colored slightly toned baseball. Yogi Berra and Mickey Mantle signed their names on the sweet spot. On the panel below are the signatures of Jack Reed, Hall of Famer Whitey Ford, Jesse Gonder, Bill Gardner, Johnny Blanchard, Bob Turley and Bob Hale. On the OAL Brown stamped sweet spot is the signature of Bobby Richardson. On the panel below the stamp are the signatures of Johnny Sain, Johnny James, Deron Johnson, Jim Coates, Luis Arroyo, Art Ditmer, Bill Stafford and Bob Cerv. The panel to the right of the Berra/Mantle sweet spot contains the signatures of Ryne Duren, Moose Skowron, Earl Torgeson, Hector Lopez, Hal Reniff, Clete Boyer and Ralph Terry. The panel to the right of the stamped sweet spot contains the signatures of Danny McDevitt, Rollie Sheldon, Joe DeMaestri, Manager Ralph Houk, Tex Clevenger, Tom Tresh, Bud Daley and Al Downing. This multi-signed baseball comes with a full LOA from JSA (Y69903).
