It’s rare to find any item dating back to 1926. It’s even more rare to find one in as good condition as this 1926 Philadelphia American League Basket Ball Club original stock certificate made out to Eddie Gottlieb. Gottlie, of course, is best known as “Mr. Basketball” and “The Mogul” that bought the Philadelphia Warriors in 1951. Gottlieb was a pioneer and one of the best promoters of that era. This stock certificate was for $2,000 of Common Stock, $5,000 of Capital Stock and $3,000 Preferred Stock with shares at $20.00 each. This document is dated December 22, 1926 was for 10 shares. This certificate was incorporated under the laws of Pennsylvania. This immaculate document shows only minor toning and is folded in two spots to fit in an envelope. Otherwise, the condition of this document is impeccable. This item derives directly from the Gottlieb Estate.
