In 2005, Randy Johnson was 17 years into his Hall of Fame career as a pitcher. Although he was 41 years old, “The Big Unit” could still rear back and punch out a batter with the same ease as his younger self. The 2005 season was his first with the New York Yankees, after six stellar seasons with the fledgling Arizona Diamondbacks. Johnson won 17 games that season for the Bronx Bombers, adding 211 strikeouts in the process, good for second in the American League.Johnson pitched four more seasons after his first Yankee campaign, and finished his career with 303 wins and 4,875 strikeouts.
Johnson wore this size 52 Majestic button-down New York Yankees home pinstripe jersey during the 2005 season. This jersey features the Yankees iconic interlocking “NY” logo on the front left breast, sewn on in navy blue tackle twill. Johnson’s number “41” is sewn on the back in navy blue tackle twill, with an MLB logo sewn on the back collar. A Majestic tag with “2005” and “[size] 52” flags is sewn on the bottom left front tail. This item comes with a full LOA from MEARS, who graded it a perfect A10 and a letter of provenance from Stephen Costello, a former executive with Steiner Sports.
