Hall of Famer Nolan Ryan signed what was then a lucrative contract with the Houston Astros following the 1979 season and paid immediate dividends as he was a key contributor to Houston’s National League Western Division title. Ryan wore this all-orange New Era Houston Astros cap during the 1980-1982 seasons. The size tag of this cap is not present, but is roughly 7 1/8 to 7 ¼. This style hat was worn by the Astros when they wore their “rainbow” style jerseys. That cap features an embroidered navy blue star with a white “H” centered on the front. This hat shows heavy game use with numerous dirt and sweat stains throughout and a cracked brim. Ryan’s number “34” is hand written in faded blue pen on the underside green brim and Ryan signed his name in black marker on the outer brim. The tan soft plastic inner sweat band shows wear and has minor cracking. This hat comes with a full LOA from PSA/DNA (AC04035) for the signature and a full LOA from Mears for the game use.
