Winter Auction 2017 Ending January 29
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 1/29/2017
Offered are three full-color 16x20 Leon Wolf paintings of the Legendary Mickey Mantle. All three paintings are stretched, unframed, and signed by the artist. The first painting is of Mantle holding a Louisville Slugger bat, with one hand on his hip in a full New York Yankees home uniform in the foreground. The New York Yankees team logo stands behind him. The second painting in this lot is of a much younger Mickey Mantle posing in a crouched and prepared position looking directly at the viewer. In the back ground is Mantle leaning on his knee with his arms folded and his bat through his arms with his batting helmet on, and the famous facade of Yankee Stadium. The third and final painting is of a much more aged Mantle smiling at the viewer. This particular close-up image looks like it may have been inspired by a team photo of the Yankees, as if the artist wanted to depict a close up picture of the legend because of the jerseys in the background.
