The 1944 Baltimore Orioles were a AA affiliate of the Cleveland Indians led by outfielder Howie Moss, whose powerhouse stat line included a .306 average, 27 HRs, 141 RBIs, 122 runs, 44 doubles and eight triples. Sherm Lollar also played that full season for the International League champions before starting his Major League career. This 14K-gold, size 11-1/2 ring belonged to obscure teammate Lloyd Shafer who logged just those 15 games and 25 plate appearances in his entire minor-league career. Shafer's name is engraved inside the band, along with what appears to be the manufacturer's name, "FETTING." EX-MT condition. We are aware of just two other '44 Orioles championship rings—one of which sold at auction for almost $6,000 in 2009. LOA from the Shafer family.
