This baseball was used during the historic game when Pete Rose passed Ty Cobb to become the all time baseball hit leader. The game, a 2-0 Reds victory over the Padres, was played on September 11, 1985. Rose finished 2-3, scoring two runs and drawing a walk. One of Rose’s hits was the 4,192 of his career, surpassing Ty Cobb’s Major League record. Rose finished his Hall of Fame caliber career with 4,256 hits.

This ball is one of the game balls used during the historic game. This Rawlings Official National League Charles S. Feeney baseball was signed by Reds right fielder Dave Parker, who added the inscription “Pete Rose 4192 Game Ball 9-11-85” in black pen. Rose also signed the baseball, inscribing “Game Used Ball 4192 9-11-85.” An unknown hand penned the inscription “9-11-85 P.R. #4192 GM Ball.” This ball shows moderate game use and comes with a MEARS LOA and a PSA/DNA LOA (AC04504).
