Offered in this lot are two 1956 World Series memorabilia including a scored program guide as well as a New York Times newspaper. The 1956 World Series saw the New York Yankees face off against the ever resilient Brooklyn Dodgers, in a rematch of the ages. The year before, the 1955 World Series was won by the Dodgers and the Yankees were looking to bounce back. Ultimately their efforts would pay off as the series would be won by the Yankees 4 -3 capturing their 17th title. Game 5 would become a highlight of the series as Yankees’ pitcher Don Larsen pitched a perfect game, the only ever perfect game in a World Series history! The featured program guide has a scored scorecard for Larsen’s perfect game, cementing this monumental achievement. This program guide in excellent condition and no visible tears or stains of any sort have been identified. Also included is a New York Times newspaper dated Tuesday October 9, 1956 and headlined “Larsen Beats Dodgers in perfect game; Wins First World Series No-Hitter 2-0”. The newspaper is in great condition considering its age and has been folded twice, however there are no visible tears of any sort, and all pages remain fully intact. These items are a great addition offer a great piece of baseball history!
