After helping the St. Louis Cardinals win the 1982 World Series, Ozzie Smith signed a one million dollar contract for 1983. The shortstop responded by winning the Gold Glove Award and was voted to his first All-Star team. The Louisville Slugger R215 model bat is un-cracked and shows excellent use with checking from repeated ball contact on the back barrel. There is a 2 x 5 inch piece missing from the back barrel. Several ball marks with stitch impressions are on the barrel along with black ink transfers. Blue bat rack paint streaks are visible and a light coat of pine tar is on the handle. Ozzie’s number “1” has been hand written on the knob in black and the Hall of Famer has signed the barrel in black marker. This bat comes with a full LOA from PSA/DNA (1B09868) for the game use, with a grade of GU 8 and a LOA from PSA/DNA (AC04510) for the signature.
