In 1964 the United States Olympic hockey team entered the Innsbruck Games as the defending gold medalists, an unusual position for them at the time. Led by Bill Christian and his brother Rog, the US team failed to replicate their success four years prior. While they failed to win a medal, they still played well, defeating Romania, Germany, and Switzerland.

Bill Christian wore this jacket during the Opening Ceremony of the Innsbruck Winter Olympics. The button-down jacket, made of cream colored wool, features a resplendent USA crest sewn on the left breast. The collar is lined with a beautiful red and blue border, as are the two front pockets. This size 38 jacket was made by Lakeland Sportswear. The tag on this inside back collar features text indicating its use during the Opening Ceremony.

This is a chance to claim a true piece of hockey history. Christian, who scored 19 points in his two Olympic games, was inducted into the United States Hockey Hall of Fame in 1984 and the International Ice Hockey Hall of Fame in 1998. Bill Christian’s son Dave followed in his father’s illustrious footsteps, winning the gold medal in the renowned 1980 Olympic Games while playing for Bill’s Olympic teammate Herb Brooks. This jacket comes with a full LOA from Bill Christian, verifying its authenticity as being worn in the ninth Winter Olympiad.
