In 1960 the United States stunned the hockey world as they captured the gold medal at the Squaw Valley Winter Olympics. As overwhelming underdogs, the United States team steamrolled the entire field, winning all seven games they participated in. In the medal round, they defeated Sweden, Germany, Canada, the USSR, and Czechoslovakia to win the coveted gold medal.

This jacket was worn by Bill Christian, a star member of the 1960 squad. Christian, whose son was an equally key member of the 1980 Miracle USA hockey team, was the fifth leading scorer of the 1960 tournament. This jacket is beige with cream colored toggles on the front. A detachable hood with red, white, and blue lining is affixed to the collar. A “USA” crest is stitched on the left breast. This size 38 jacket was made by McGregor. It features two large pockets on the front tail. The lining of the jacket is red.

This jacket represents a significant piece of United States hockey history, as Christian is a member of both the USA and IIHF Hockey Hall of Fame. This jacket comes with a full LOA from Christian himself, authenticating its use during this historic period.
