Despite the 80-81 record, the St. Louis Cardinals were on the verge of ascending to the top of the National League. With pitchers Bob Gibson and Steve Carlton leading the way, the red birds were only two years away from winning the World Series. This Official National League Warren Giles baseball has been signed by 25 members of the 1965 St. Louis Cardinals in blue ink. Manager and Hall of Famer Red Schoendienst signed his name on the sweet spot and fellow Hall of Famers Lou Brock, Bob Gibson and Steve Carlton signed their names on separate side panels. Other signatures include Curt Flood, Tracy Stallard, Tim McCarver, Jerry Buchek, Dick Groat, Nelson Briles (signed Nellie Briles), Curt Simmons, Barney Schultz, Tito Francona, Phil Gagliano, Ken Boyer, Ray Washburn and several others. This baseball displays minor toning and the signatures are light, but still readable and comes with a full LOA from JSA (X28944).
