The 61st Mid-Summer Classic took place on July 10th, 1990, at Wrigley Field. The game was close and tightly contested, with the American League coming out victorious 2-0. Both runs were the result of a 7th inning double by eventual MVP Julio Franco of the Texas Rangers. The National League offense was shut out by a dominant AL pitching staff, led by starting pitcher Bob Welch.
This ball is signed by 33 members of the National League team, including players and coaches. Roger Craig, the manager of the National League team, signed the sweet spot of the ball. Other signatures include Barry Bonds, Hall of Famer Tony Gwynn, Frank Viola, and Hall of Famer Ozzie Smith. All of the signatures are rendered in blue ballpoint pen and have been pre-certified by Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication and a prior JSA Auction Letter.
