The 61st Mid-Summer Classic took place on July 10th, 1990, at Wrigley Field. The game itself was a throwback to a bygone era, as the American League picked up a hard fought 2-0 victory. Both runs were the result of a 7th inning double by eventual MVP Julio Franco of the Texas Rangers. The AL pitching staff, led by Oakland A’s hurler Bob Welch, combined to throw a two-hit shutout against the vaunted NL offense.
The item offered here is a ball signed by 28 members of the American League All-Star team, with manager and Hall of Famer Tony La Russa’s signature appearing on the sweet spot of the ball. Other signatures include Hall of Famers Cal Ripken Jr., Dennis Eckersley, Kirby Puckett, Ken Griffey Jr., and many more. The signatures on this Rawlings Official All-Star Game ball were signed in blue ballpoint pen and appear all over the ball. This item comes pre-certified by Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication and comes with a prior JSA Auction Letter.
