Presented here is a baseball signed by members of the 1943 Brooklyn Dodgers. Still over a decade away from moving to Los Angeles, the Brooklyn ballclub finished with an 81-72 record, good for third in the National League. These Dodgers featured an intriguing mix of aging stars, such as Arky Vaughan, Paul Waner, Joe Medwick, and Bobo Newsom, in front of future stars like Gil Hodges.

This Spalding Official National League Ford Frick baseball was signed by 24 members of the 1943 Dodgers, with Hall of Fame player-manager Leo Durocher signing the sweet spot. This ball was signed by Hall of Famers Arky Vaughan, Billy Herman, and Paul Waner. Medwick, who was traded mid-season, did not sign the ball. Other signatures include Dixie Walker, Curt Davis, Frenchy Bordagaray, Kirby Higbe, Mickey Owen, Al Glossop, Rube Melton, Ed Head, Les Webber, Fritz Ostermueller, Freddie Fitzsimmons, and more. The signatures are written in finely aged black pen. This item has been pre-certified by Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication.
