Despite Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig leading the Major Leagues with 46 home runs apiece, the New York Yankees missed out on the 1931 World Series due to the Philadelphia Athletics otherworldly 107 wins. The Yankees still hold the MLB record for runs scored in a season, with 1,067 scored in 1931. Gehrig himself knocked in 184 runs to aid in the Yankee effort. The 1931 Yankees featured eight Hall of Fame players: Ruth, Gehrig, Bill Dickey, Tony Lazzeri, Joe Sewell, Earle Combs, Red Ruffing, Lefty Gomez, and Herb Pennock.

This baseball is a Rawlings Official League ball, and is signed by six members of the 1931 Yankees. Babe Ruth signed the sweet spot of the ball. The other National Baseball Hall of Fame inductees to sign this ball are Lou Gehrig, Tony Lazzeri, Bill Dickey, and Herb Pennock. The final signature belongs to Jim Weaver, an eight year MLB veteran. His only season with the Yankees was 1931. The signatures are written in black pen. This item comes with a LOA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentications (A03085).
