Lloyd McClendon has been a steady figure in MLB since his debut in 1987. As a player, and later a manager, McClendon has assisted with the development of generations of big league talent. The items offered here are four bats signed and inscribed by players McClendon has helped or befriended in baseball.

The first bat is signed by Aramis Ramirez, who McClendon managed from 2001 to 2003 when Ramirez was beginning his Major League career as a Pittsburgh Pirate. This black Sam Bat is signed in silver Sharpie on the barrel by Ramirez and is inscribed “Lloyd, Thanks for making me a better player!” The second bat is a Worth Bobby Bonilla model signed by Bonilla, a teammate of McClendon on the Pittsburgh Pirates. It is signed in silver Sharpie, and includes another inscription dedicated to McClendon, who Bonilla affectionately calls “Mac.”

The third bat is a Louisville Slugger K75 model signed and inscribed by Nick Esasky, who played with McClendon when they both played for the Cincinnati Reds. He wrote, in black Sharpie, “To Lloyd, Best Wishes and Good Luck, Nick Esasky” on the barrel of the bat. The final bat is signed by 1991 NL MVP Terry Pendleton, and includes the inscription, “To Lloyd, My Best Wishes to You! Terry Pendleton.” Both the signature and inscription are written on the barrel of the bat in black Sharpie. These items have been pre-certified by Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication.
