Carney Lansford broke in with the California Angels in 1978 and nearly took Rookie of the Year honors. After three seasons, he was traded to Boston where he immediately won the AL batting crown (.336) and finished 6th in MVP voting—albeit in a strike-shortened campaign. Perhaps the unusual circumstances of the All-Star Game, which was played on August 9th after the two-month hiatus, explain why Balfour produced this celestrium, size 12 ring in the event that Lansford would participate, though he ultimately was not selected. (Incidentally, the All -Star ring design switched away from player names to a generic, no-name style after 1982.) A blue-sapphire stone and 6 CZs crown Lansford's NM ring. Accompanied by a Balfour box and 1988 purchase LOA.
