Winter Auction 2017 Ending January 29

Remember the so-called Curse of the Chargers? How Junior Seau's 2012 death marked the 8th member of the 1994 Super Bowl team to die prematurely before age 45? Well, thankfully, Georgia native Ernest Greene has avoided the same sad fate. "Big Red," a 6-foot-8 offensive lineman, played for San Diego from 1993 to 1995, then moved on to the Steelers and Eagles, before finishing his career in the Arena Football League. To the best we can gather, he still coaches football. Greene's 10K-gold, size 14 ring by Jostens is just the third player example ever to reach a major auction house from the franchise's sole Super Bowl appearance. It showcases 40 points of diamonds on the face, plus nicely enameled shank designs. Aside from a faint hairline scratch on the blue stone, condition is NM. Accompanied by the engraved wooden presentation box (4-1/4" x 3-1/4" x -1/4", EX) and a pair of 1997 purchase LOAs.
