Keith Hernandez batted .310, scored 94 runs, led the league with 94 walks, earned his ninth Gold Glove and, of course, won a world championship. Although he finished 4th in NL MVP voting, he was first in the hearts of fans who voted him the best New York Met of the year. A plaque on the 8 x 8 x 5 inch wooden base reads, "MET OF '86' / PRESENTED TO / KEITH HERNANDEZ / AS CHOSEN BY THE VIEWERS OF / WOR T.V. / OCTOBER 5, 1986." The 12-inch diameter, six-inch tall trophy cup shows heavy pitting and related wear, especially to the interior. There is also minor general contact wear on the base/plaque.
