Richie Ashburn, one of the most beloved figures in Philadelphia, was a six-time All-Star, and a two-time NL batting champion. Ashburn spent his formative and Hall of Fame years with the Phillies and then spent two years with the Chicago Cubs, and then finally to the New York Mets in 1962. He would finish his career with a .306 batting average, and would become the Mets first ever All-Star.

This featured trophy was awarded to Richie Ashburn in his final 1962 season with the Mets. It is a Howard MVP award, and was presented by Howard Clothes stores on September 19, 1962. The trophy features a gold plated batter on the top over a brass colored trophy that rests on a three-step wooden pedestal, adorned by four eagles on each corner. The trophy stands approximately 12 x 2 inches. It shows light signs of aging on the trophy, with minor scuff marks. The wood pedestal is in excellent shape with no major breaks or cracks. The trophy is in great condition considering its age and is an integral part of Mets history, as well as one of the most iconic Philadelphia sports icons!
