No baseball player has ever started as many games, faced as many hitters, or won as many games as the great Denton “Cy” Young. He started his career in 1890, and spent the next two decades winning 511 baseball games. Today, the award for best pitcher in each league, the Cy Young Award, is named after the legendary hurler. Young threw baseball’s third perfect game, in 1904, as well as three other no-hitters. Young was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1937.
The item offered here is a 1953 Artvue Hall of Fame Plaque Type 1 postcard. It features an image of Cy Young’s Hall of Fame plaque, offering a summary of his career, the teams he played for, and a bronze image of Cy. Young signed the bottom of this postcard in blue pen. His signature was graded a MINT 9 by PSA/DNA. This item has been encapsulated by PSA/DNA (83182472).
