Before Michael Jordan came along, Julius Erving was the face of the NBA. From his beginning with the rebel ABA in the early 1970’s through his glory days with the Nets and Sixers, “Dr. J” left a trail of NBA records and stats that made him one of the game’s greatest players. After winning three ABA MVP Awards in the 1970’s, Dr. J switched to the NBA and won that league’s award in 1981 - the only player to do that in both leagues.

By the time he hung up his sneakers in 1987, Dr. J had scored 30,026 points, still number 6 on the NBA’s all-time career list. This Philadelphia 76ers jersey was worn by the NBA legend in his final 1986-1987 season. The white home jersey has “SIXERS” and Dr. J’s number “6” on the front in blue and red tackle twill. The arm and neck openings have red, white and blue ribbing and an NBA logo is embroidered on the left shoulder. MacGregor Sand Knit labels are in the lower left front tail with a white strip tag with “2” LB” chain stitched in black. The back has “ERVING” across the shoulders in individual blue tackle twill letters and his number “6” below in red and blue tackle twill. The jersey shows consistent moderate wear from use with slight toning throughout. Dr. J has signed the back of the jersey, just below his number “6” in black marker, making this the complete Julius Erving gamer. The jersey comes with a full LOA from MEARS (314932) and the 76ers for the game use and a COA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication (B54318) for the signature.
