Muhammad Ali was, and will forever remain, one of the greatest and well-known athletes – let alone boxers - of all time. The man born Cassius Marcellus Clay was as charismatic as he was controversial. He could “Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee” and engaged in the Fight of the Century with Joe Frazier. At the same time, he went nearly four years without a match, after he had his professional boxing license suspended for his refusal to be inducted into the military and his opposition to the Vietnam War.

Ali was bigger than life, and the memories are ample – Olympic Gold Medalist, “The Rumble in the Jungle”, “The Thrilla in Manilla”, his showboating and the “Rope-a-Dope”, and his bragging interactions with Howard Cosell. At the heart of it all, Ali could fight like few men in history. Ali won the heavyweight championship from Sonny Liston in 1964, becoming the youngest boxer ever to take the title from the reigning champ. He took the title for the second time in 1974 with a victory over George Foreman. In 1978, Ali would win the crown for the third time, this time defeating Leon Spinks in a rematch bout. Ali finished his career with a record of 56 wins and 5 losses, with 37 knockouts.

Presented here is a ring that recognizes Ali’s three championships, alongside long-time trainer Angelo Dundee. The face of the ring features a larger round diamond set against a large maroon stone. Three smaller diamonds (signifying the three different titles) are at the bottom. Around the bezel in relief reads “M. ALI WORLD CHAMP THREE TIMES”. The right shank features Ali’s name and the names of the opponents he beat for his three titles (S. Liston, G. Foreman, L. Spinks) in an image of a boxing glove. The years of the victories (’64-‘74’’78) are down below. The left side of the band reads “DUNDEE” along with “TRAINER OF MUHAMMAD ALI ’60-‘79”. The inside of the band is marked Jostens 14K. This truly unique ring weighs approximately 41.1 grams and is approximately size is 11 ½. Per Jim Dundee, this is the ONLY championship ring produced for and worn by Ali and Dundee while Ali was an active boxer. Comes with a letter of authenticity from Angelo Dundee.
