Featured is a typed letter by J. L. Wilkinson. James Wilkinson was an American sports executive who founded the All National Baseball Club, as well as the Negro League team, the Kansas City Monarchs. This letter is addressed to Eddie Gottlieb the first ever coach and manager to the Philadelphia Warriors, now Golden State Warriors.

This two-page letter references baseball player Satchel Paige. There are several typos within these pages, as well as some corrections made with pencil. On the first page Wilkinson has inscribed “Ed Check is in safe”, and Wilkinson has also signed the bottom of this page in blue ink. These two pages display signs of aging such as toning and there is a slight tear, along with creases, folds, and discoloration. Considering its age, the letters are in good condition as the text is fully legible and clear. This item has been authenticated by Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication and comes with a LOA (A04456).
