Former NFL wide receiver Jimmy Smith was selected in the second round by the Dallas Cowboys in 1992 (36th overall). After an injury during the traditional Blue-White scrimmage game, Smith was limited to special teams during his rookie campaign and played in seven games. The injury bug caught up to Smith prior to the start of the 1993 season as he was forced to have an emergency appendectomy on August 24th. Smith at the time was leading the team in receptions and was most likely going to win the third receiver position. Complications from the surgery forced Smith to miss the entire 1993 season.

One bright spot for Smith was the Super Bowl XXVIII ring that was presented to him, following the Cowboys demolition of the Buffalo Bills 30-13 at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta. This was the Cowboy’s fourth Super Bowl victory, matching them with the Pittsburgh Steelers and San Francisco 49ers. 24 diamonds shaped like a football surround four larger football-shaped diamonds in this breathtaking ring. “DALLAS” and “COWBOYS” in raised gold lettering surround the 24 diamonds. The right shank has “WORLD CHAMPIONS BACK TO BACK” with the colored Super Bowl XXVIII logo between two replica Lombardi trophies. The left shank has a raised “SMITH” above a full color raised NFL logo which sits atop the Georgia Dome and Smith’s number “82”. The ring is a size 11 ½ and approximately 57 grams and comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA verifying its authenticity.
