Already with two Super Bowl victories under his belt, Hall of Fame quarterback Joe Montana joined Terry Bradshaw as the only quarterbacks with four Super Bowl titles following two of his best seasons of 1988 and 1989 in a remarkable 15-year career. In a rematch of Super Bowl XVI, Montana and the San Francisco 49ers took on the Cincinnati Bengals in Super Bowl XXIII. Montana’s last-minute drive, culminating in his touchdown pass to John Taylor with 34 seconds left, and holding off Boomer Esiason and the Bengals 20-16.

The next season was an even more dominant one for Montana and the Niners as they cruised to a regular season record of 14-2 and steamrolled their way to Super Bowl XXIV in New Orleans, where they picked apart the number one defense in the Denver Broncos to a tune of a 55-10 rout. Montana’s 3,521 passing yards and 26 touchdowns during the 1989 season, earned him the NFL MVP Award, his first of his career.

Offered is this size 44 white mesh road jersey that was worn by Montana during the 49ers back-to-back Super Bowl seasons of 1988 and 1989. Montana's number "16" has been applied in red appliqué on the front as well on each sleeve. Three red appliqué stripes finish each sleeve end. A Russell Athletic label is sewn in the lower left front tail. The back has "MONTANA" across the shoulders in red appliqué on a matching white nameplate and his number "16" is below in red appliqué. The jersey shows moderate game use, with some minor stains and some loose threads. None of these distract from the display quality and historical significance of this jersey. Montana has signed the "1" in black marker on the back, making this an outstanding gamer from the heart of Montana's Hall of Fame career. This item comes with a LOA from the San Francisco 49ers for the game, a LOA from JSA for the signature and has been photo matched by Resolution Photomatching to games played on November 27th, 1988 and August 23rd, 1989.
