The Washington Senators were one of the original members of the American League, joining the Junior Circuit for its inaugural campaign in 1901. The franchise employed one of the greatest pitchers in baseball history, Walter Johnson, who helped the Senators win their only World Series in 1924. Goose Goslin, himself a member of the National Baseball Hall of Fame, was their offensive catalyst that season.

In 1961, the Senators moved to Minneapolis and became the Minnesota Twins. They were instantly replaced by a separate, unaffiliated team called the Washington Senators who would soon be on the move to Arlington, resuming play as the Texas Rangers.

This book, “The Washington Senators: An Informal History”, was written by Shirley Povich, a longtime Washington Post sports reporter and the father of current television personality Maury Povich. Eight former Washington Senators have signed this book, including Hall of Famers Early Wynn and Rick Ferrell. Other signatures include Calvin Griffith, Mickey Vernon, Eddie Robinson, Spec Shea, Irv Noren, and Cecil H. Travis. The signatures have been written in blue fine-tipped marker, blue pen, and black pen. This item comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (AC01309).
