On May 1st, 2013, Miguel Cabrera laced this baseball into Comerica Park’s left field during a game against the Minnesota Twins. Cabrera collected this hit, which drove in a run, against Scott Diamond during the Twins 6-2 victory over the Tigers. It was the 393rd double of Cabrera’s career, breaking him out of a three-way tie with Chris Chambliss and Del Pratt on the all-time list. Cabrera finished the 2013 season as the American League MVP, winning the award for the second straight season. He virtually replicated his numbers from the previous season, when he won the American League Triple Crown, putting up a Triple Crown slash line of .348/44/137 in 2013.
Cabrera has signed the sweet spot of this Official Major League Allan H. Selig baseball. The Tiger signed this ball in blue pen, adding the inscription “Career Double #393” on the north panel. This item comes with a JSA STICKER ONLY (WP092913) for the signature, and a MLB Authenticated hologram (EK 396026), dating the use of this ball to the May 1st game.
