This baseball was used on October 3rd, 2012, during the Detroit Tigers 1-0 victory over the Kansas City Royals in the last game of the 2012 season. Austin Jackson drove in the only run of the game, doubling home Omar Infante in the top of the fifth. Miguel Cabrera clinched the American League Triple Crown award after this game, and was awarded the American League MVP award later that fall. This Official Major League Allan H. Selig baseball was pitched by Luis Marte to Royals batter Johnny Giovatella in the sixth inning, when it bounced in the dirt and was removed from play.
