Baseball appeared in the 1984 Los Angeles Summer Olympics as a demonstration sport, pitting eight teams, including the United States, against each other in a tournament where no medals were awarded. The United States and Japan played each other in the final game, with Japan earning a 6-3 victory. This baseball is printed with “The Game Ball / Games of the XXIIIrd Olympiad / Los Angeles 1984” where the League President’s signature would be on a Major League baseball. A Los Angeles Olympics logo is printed on the panel below. This baseball has been signed 20 members of the 1984 US Olympic team, including Hall of Famer Barry Larkin, Mark McGwire, BJ Surhoff, Cory Snyder, Chris Gwynn, Oddibe McDowell, Pat Pacillo, Will Clark, Shane Mack, John Hoover, Gary Green, Don August, Scott Bankhead, Bobby Witt, Sid Akins, Bob Caffrey, Bill Swift and John Marzano. The signatures on this baseball have been written in black pen. This item comes with a LOA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication (Z42181).
