Presented is a 66-card complete set of 1965 Topps "Battle". In an era where realistic World War II television shows were scoring high in the ratings and war movies were all the rage in the theaters, Topps art director Woody Gelman knew he had to capitalize on the craze. A card collector himself, he remembered the Horrors of War series that thrilled him as a child, so he decided to create his own version. Topps' Battle issue of 1965 brought fascinating and bloody wartime action into view for a new generation's consumption via the thrilling artwork of the great Norm Saunders. This release is quite a bit more difficult to acquire than other Saunders efforts and is one of the absolute best non-sports card sets that Topps ever produced. Highlights include: #'s 1 Fight/Hitler (VG), 62 MacArthur (VG/EX), 63 F. Roosevelt (VG/EX), 65 Cloth Emblem CL (VG) and 66 CL (FR, marked). Grades VG to VG/EX (one lesser).
