The 1926 World Series saw the New York Yankees, who had appeared in four Fall Classics in the previous six seasons, compete against the St. Louis Cardinals, winners of their first ever National League pennant. The series was a nail-biting classic, with the Cardinals eking out a title as Babe Ruth was gunned down trying to steal second base for the final out of Game 7. In Game 5, however, Ruth was the undisputed hero, setting a new World Series record with three home runs in the contest. Before the game, Ruth had received word of a sick boy, Johnny Sylvester, and apocryphally promised that he would hit a home run for the child. After Ruth’s three home runs, Sylvester recovered from his mysterious ailment. The items offered here are two encapsulated ticket stubs to Game 5, both graded a GOOD 2 by PSA/DNA (26470039).
