2017 holiday
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/10/2017
“The Raging Bull” is featured in this lot brawling his way to the top. A swarmer and close distance fighter Jake LaMotta always felt comfortable inside his opponent’s pocket. LaMotta was best known for landing combinations and smothering his opponents in punches. Although he was not known to have stones for hands per se, he had a granite chin to compensate. LaMotta took about as much damage as he dealt in his fights, but could not be put down. LaMotta has been written down in the books as one of the greatest American middleweight boxers of all time, and just like his flying fists, his legend will not falter.
Offered in this lot is a 8x10 inch black and white photograph of Jake LaMotta fighting Sugar Ray Robinson effectively knocking Robinson out of the ring. The photo has been signed by LaMotta in gold marker and features a caption at the bottom of the photo (Feb. 1943-Jake LaMotta vs Sugar Ray Robinson Robinson’s Only Defeat in his First 131 Fights). This photograph comes with a PSA/DNA STICKER ONLY (C74528). The second item in this lot is a venue baseball press box ticket for the championship bout between Jacob LaMotta and Marcel Cerdan in Polo Grounds 1949. The venue ticket is not signed, but is in excellent condition and all the print on it is still perfectly legible despite its age.
