Hall of Fame slugger Ken Griffey Jr. played the first 11 seasons of his career with the Seattle Mariners before spending the following nine campaigns with the Cincinnati Reds and Chicago White Sox. In 2009, Griffey made his emotional return to Seattle, playing back on the banks of Lake Washington for the next two seasons before his well-earned retirement. This baseball was used during Griff’s first at-bat of the 2010 season, against the Oakland Athletics at Oakland-Alameda County Stadium. This ball was thrown by A’s starter Ben Sheets to Griffey in the first inning, when it was removed from play after being thrown in the dirt. Griffey would ground out to end the first inning, although the Mariners went on to win the game 5-3. This Official Major League Allan H. Selig baseball comes with a MLB Authenticated hologram (LH 433171). Please note that the hologram says this ball was used in the second inning during Griffey’s at-bat. Griffey’s at-bat was in the first inning and did not bat in the second inning.
