The 1984 Detroit Tigers led wire-to-wire to win their first World Series title since 1968. After starting the season with nine straight wins, the Tigers continued to roll going 35-5 after 40 games and cruising to a 104-58 record, finishing 15 games ahead of the Toronto Blue Jays in the American League East. The Tigers kept their dominant play going in the post season as they swept the Kansas City Royals in three games to win the American League Championship Series and finished off the San Diego Padres in five games to capture the World Series title.
Offered is this ABC Sports TV banner manufactured by National Flag & Display Co. out of New York City that has been signed by over 40 members of the champion Tigers. This off-white flag measures 75 x 78 inches and has the ABC logo in red and white and “SPORTS” in bold black print. This banner features the signatures in black marker of Hall of Famers Al Kaline, Sparky Anderson. Other notable signatures include Lou Whitaker, Kirk Gibson, Alan Trammell, Willie Hernandez, Jack Morris, Lance Parrish, Dan Petry, Sid Monge and several others. The banner has damage on the upper portion with some pieces loose and missing. The signatures are still intact. This item comes pre-certified by Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication.
