On September 16th, 1996, Minnesota Twins designated hitter Paul Molitor collected the 3,000th hit of his Hall of Fame career during a road matchup with the Kansas City Royals at Kauffman Stadium. Molitor tripled in the top of the fifth inning of this 6-5 Twins loss to reach the lofty plateau, becoming the first player to reach the mark with a three-bagger. Molitor, despite his advancing age in 1996, finished the season with an American League best 225 hits and a .341/9/113 slash line. He has signed this ticket in blue marker. This item has been encapsulated and graded a GEM MINT 10 by PSA/DNA (24896293).
