Offered is what may be one of the last Babe Ruth signatures before his passing on August 16th, 1948. This black and white 8 x 10 photograph shows Ruth sitting down with a cigar in his right hand and legs crossed. Two men are seated next to him on what appears to be a padded bench in front of a window. Ruth signed his famous and highly sought-after signature in blue pen on the upper right corner of this photograph. Ruth also inscribed “To My Pal Emory [sic] From Babe Ruth 8-4-48”. That August 4th date is less than two weeks before Ruth passed away from cancer. The photograph has stamped on the back “CATERING TO WEDDINGS – BANQUETS – PARTIES DICKINSON PHOTO SERVICE 4158 N. LEAVITT PHONE CORnelia 2258”. The photograph itself is in good shape, only displaying minor edge and corner wear. Ruth’s signature is still in good condition and is clear. This item comes with a LOA from JSA (Z55734) for Ruth’s signature and inscription.
