Quarterback Joe Theismann help lead the Washington Redskins to the franchise’s first ever Super Bowl victory when they defeated the Miami Dolphins 27-17 at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California. Theismann and Super Bowl XVII MVP running back John Riggins led the Redskins to 14 fourth quarter points to erase a 17-10 halftime deficit. Theismann finished the game completing 15-23 passes and two touchdowns.
Offered is a full-sized replica of the Vince Lombardi Trophy modeled after the one presented to the Washington Redskins for their victory in Super Bowl XVII. The trophy, with its 2 ¼ inch black triangle base, measures 17 inches tall. The front panel reads “VINCE LOMBARDI TROPHY” above the NFL shield and “SUPER BOWL XVII AFC vs NFC Rose Bowl, Pasadena California JANUARY 30, 1983 WASHINGTON REDSKINS 27 MIAMI DOLPHINS 17”. Theismann signed the black panel made for the base in silver marker and inscribed “#7”. The trophy is in excellent condition and comes with a COA from PSA/DNA (5A15013).
