Presented here is a signed and heavily inscribed photograph of Hall of Fame New York Yankees manager Joe Torre discussing the 1998 Yankees. Torre wrote, “I’ve never been around a team that was consistently excellent as the 98 team. We started the season without Mariano that year and we lost I think the first 3 out of 4 games on the road trip. It was a tough start and after ’97 of course there was always talk about leaving my job but when you work for Steinbrenner you understand that’s just a part of the atmosphere that’s always going to surround you. We won the last couple of games on that road trip and came home but this ball club was just so determined and I think what caused that is what happened in ’97. We felt we had that game and that series in our grasp and we let it get away. A lot of what happened in ’98 is because these players came in so determined to win.” Torre signed the 16 x 20 inch photograph beneath his inscription, adding the short caption “’98 WS Champs / 125-50”. The signature and inscriptions have been written in silver marker. This item comes with a COA from Steiner Sports and a Fanatics Authenticated hologram (0542718).
