Presented here is a 16 x 20 inch photograph of Darryl Strawberry during his time with the New York Mets. Strawberry has signed and heavily inscribed this photograph in silver marker, writing “You cannot beat the 86 Mets. The Yankees teams I played on were great teams with great personalities, but they were good guys. The 86 Mets would have been drilling these guts. I just know how one pitching staff was. Hit this guy, hit that guy. That was who we were, we were mad, we wanted them to get outside themselves. That’s the kind of group we had that year. The 86 Mets were a very difficult team to play against… just a team with a strong belief from day one. When we came out of Spring Training we had a winning attitude and it paid off for the course of the whole season… because you have to start day one. You can’t wait to the end and say well, were gonna win. You gotta be day one, I think that’s what we did day one and we accomplished that. So, it was a big thrill to be able to be part of a group of guys that understood that and know its importance!” Strawberry also added the inscription “83 Roy 86 WS Champs” beneath his silver marker signature.
