Jose Reyes, a three-time All-Star capable of lighting up the base paths with his blazing speed, was one of the game’s top shortstops in his first stint with the New York Mets. This black maple Louisville Slugger R205 model bat was used by Reyes during the 2006 through 2008 seasons, where he led the National League in 2008 with 204 hits and 19 triples, and the 2009 World Baseball Classic when he represented the Dominican Republic.
This bat, with a cupped end, displays heavy use and is un-cracked. There are many ball marks and ball stitch impressions that are visible on the barrel. Other markings include gold ink transfers, which were only present in baseballs used during the World Series or the World Baseball Classic. Since the Mets did not reach the World Series until 2015, it’s most likely these marks were from the World Baseball Classic. There is a moderate coating of Mota Stick on the Hanlde and the number “7” is hand written in silver marker on the top barrel. Cleat marks also are scattered across the barrel. Reyes’ No. 7 can be found both on the knob and on top of the bat’s barrel. This bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B01742) and has been graded a near perfect GU 9 and a LOA from Mears, who have graded this bat a perfect A10.
