Gil Hodges and the New York Mets entered the 1970 season as the defending champions of baseball, fresh off the first winning season in franchise history. Presented here are manager Gil Hodges’ hand-written notes from Spring Training in 1970, dating to March 4th. The header “Wednesday, Mar. 4” is written on the top of this sheet of lined yellow paper, with notes such as “Camera day at 10 o’clock” and “Yogi’s – Diamond 12 + 3”, “Game starts around 12”, and “Infield before game.” written on the sheet. This item is included in a 26 ½ x 19 ¼ inch frame, with a photograph of Hodges and the Mets, as well as a signed and inscribed cut. Hodges signed the cut in blue pen, inscribing “Best Wishes” above his signature. The hand-written sheet is scribed in black pen. This item comes with a COA from Steiner Sports for the notes, and a LOA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication for the cut signature (A86011).
