Led by Hall of Fame defensive stalwarts Carl Eller and Alan Page, the 1973 Minnesota Vikings allowed a very stingy 12.0 points per game. Throw in quarterback Fran Tarkenton and running back Chuck Foreman, and the Vikings were a well balanced team that finished the regular season with a record of 12-2. In the playoffs, Minnesota - under head coach Bud Grant – defeated the Washington Redskins, 27-20, then beat the Dallas Cowboys, 27-10, to reach the Super Bowl. Ultimately, the NFC Champion Vikings would lose to the Miami Dolphins in Super Bowl VIII.
Presented here is a Jostens 10K gold 1973 Minnesota Vikings NFC Championship ring, which features a wonderful image of the team’s logo - set on a large purple stone - complete with 60 points of diamonds in the Vikings helmet. “1973 N.F.C. CHAMPIONS” is displayed around the bezel setting. The right shank of the ring is centered by the NFC logo, with “LERNER” on top and “SUPER BOWL VIII” at the bottom. On the other side is the NFL logo, with “MINNESOTA VIKINGS” above. Inside the ring are the manufacturer and 10K marks. This ring is an approximate size 12 and weighs approximately 51.0 grams. Item includes the original, purple felt presentation box.
