The 1945 Army Cadets dominated NCAA football like very few teams ever have. They finished the season with an undefeated 9-0 record, but that record alone didn’t come close to explaining their dominance. The Cadets ranked first in points per game (45.8) while also ranking first in points against (incredibly giving up just 5.1 points per game). Among Army’s victories were a 48-0 shutout of number two-ranked Notre Dame, a 61-0 drubbing of number six Pennsylvania, and a 32-13 win in their last game of the season over Navy, which was then the number two team in the country. The Cadets were led by the famous combination of “Mr. Inside” and “Mr. Outside” – Doc Blanchard and Glenn Davis. Blanchard rushed for 16 touchdowns on his way to winning the Heisman Trophy. Davis ran for 15 TDs (and would win the Heisman Trophy the following season).

     Offered here is a rare 1945 Army NCAA Champions ring, the original recipient of which is unknown. The face of this 10K beauty shows off a ruby red oval shaped stone, with the words “NATIONAL CHAMPS” and small images of stars surrounding the stone. Each shank displays an American winged eagle and coat of arms, with one side of the band also showing the year 1945. The inside of the band is engraved ELLIOTT 10K.
