Cleveland Indians relief pitcher Sid Monge wore this jersey and hat combination during the 1978 MLB season. Monge appeared in 48 games in 1978, starting two and saving six while compiling an ERA of 2.76. Monge played in the second most games of any Indians pitcher that season, behind only closer Jim Kern, and earning four victories against three defeats.
This jersey is a blue, home alternate pullover with “INDIANS” sewn across the chest in white and red tackle twill. “MONGE” is sewn across the back shoulders in white tackle twill above his number “43”, sewn on the back in white and red tackle twill. A Rawlings size “42” tag with an attached “Set 1 1978” flag is sewn on the front inside tail of the jersey. Monge signed the “3” digit in black marker, adding the inscription “Game Used 1978”. Also included is Monge’s size 7 1/8 blue Indians hat. The top of the brim is red, and a block “C” logo is sewn on the front of the hat. Monge’s number “43” is written on the underside of the brim in black marker. Monge signed the top of the brim in black marker, inscribing “Game Used” underneath his signature. These items come with a LOA from Monge.
