This base was used during the first game of the New York Mets home doubleheader against the San Francisco Giants on June 3^rd, 2006. Although the Mets lost this game 6-4, the team bounced back in the second game to win 3-2 in 11 innings. The Mets were National League East Division Champions in 2006, advancing to within one game of the World Series before being eliminated by the St. Louis Cardinals in the National League Championship Series. This base, which was used from the seventh to ninth innings of the June 3^rd game, has been signed by 32 Mets legends, including Hall of Fame catcher Gary Carter. Other signatures include Keith Hernandez, Jessie Orosco, Mookie Wilson, Ron Darling, Wally Backman, Sig Fernandez, Darryl Strawberry, Bud Harrelson, George Foster, Ed Hearn, Bruce Berenyi, Terry Leach, Mel Stottlemyre, Ray Knight, and several more.
