Former pitcher Jim Maloney used this Hillerich & Bradsby D143 model bat during the 1965-1968 seasons with the Cincinnati Reds, where he batted a respectable .214 as a pitcher in that span and even connected on two home runs. This bat displays outstanding game use and is un-cracked. The barrel displays checking or grain swelling from repeated ball contact and the finish on the barrel has been removed from the checking repair. The barrel also has numerous ball marks, cleat imprints, green bat rack streaks and an impression of a weighted donut. There is a moderate coating of pine tar on the handle and “46” is hand written in black marker on the knob. The model number “D143” is also stamped on the knob. Maloney signed his name in black marker on the barrel. This bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B15411) for the game use and has been graded a solid GU 8.5. There is also a COA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication (E84989) for the signature.
